I proposed a show idea to @CBC many years ago called Canada Shines with Host @MarkTewksbury who I met and absolutely adored, the camera loves him and me as a Co-Host. – I don’t blame them for not considering it, it was after all a very primitive pitch.
In fact I was on a show he did with CBC called #topofyourgame (Segment #8 on Generating Enthusiasm).
My creative pitch was to showcase everyday Canadians, the struggling musician, the amazing advocate, the unbelievably talented robotic engineer student, the selfless volunteer, the incredible dance enthusiast and so much more…
In lieu of having my own TV show on Canadian Television I’ve decided to create an online talk show #TheGailYoungShow.
The great thing about this show is yes it is named after me but the best part is it will not just be about me, it never really is if you really do know me. Here is my tagline below;
Being authentic, following my gut, falling down & doing better. Helping myself by helping others, owning my failures & successes. Turning my experiences into wisdom.
I am so lucky to have wonderful, vibrant and talented individuals in my midst including my grand daughter Elaysha who has developed tremendously as an up and coming videographer and producer thanks to apps like #Musicaly.
My niece Leah who is moving to Toronto (Yay!) is planning to join us on this new venture and she will look after set design. My daughter Fallon will be involved with hair & makeup and as we evolve, I’m hoping more family members and friends will join us.
This will be an all Canadian show. Here is where everything will be published – https://www.facebook.com/TheGailYoungShow – Feel free to LIKE the page now so that you are there from the inception of the show.
I’ve always wanted to be the Oprah of Canada but this is even better, starting small with the hopes it will grow over time.
I can’t be Oprah since I’m Gail but I’ve researched her show structure and some of her ideas on how to succeed are incorporated in my tagline as a reminder of her influence.
I’ve come to realize that if I want to do what I’ve always wanted to do – I need to do it. Losing my Mom made me realize my mortality, I don’t know how much time I have but I do know what will matter on my deathbed is that I did everything I wanted to do.
I’ve been in the broadcasting industry behind the scenes for over 20 years, I am a devout follower of all that is content and the ebbs and flows of the industry. I’m hoping this knowledge along with the collaboration of others will help make our little show great!
Stay tuned and fingers crossed…Launch is planned for this summer, in the meantime if you are interested in being on the show, helping with the show or interested in being part of the creative process you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
